Listen to the voices in the background of the video, they are arguing about what is more and less usable and specific items' position on the continuum!

I feel like we need to find a way to reuse plastic. When people litter, plastic gets into the ocean and animals get caught in it and if it's small enough they end up eating it. We can try and stop littering and throw it in the garbage more it will make a difference but it won't solve the whole problem.
~Kiya This is a really hard question, but when we watched the video. I thought pulling a net behind the boat catch garbage was pretty smart.
~Lowell How I feel the plastic and I don't like it I don't like the people use plastic the little plastic bags for their lunch and stuff just like her spend like $10 on its container or like just try not to do plastic bag because it's a waste.
~Zaiden Can we do the trash pickup again when we go to the aquarium will we check out the plastic again.
I do not agree that glitter is the less used thing and the worst one used plastic out there because when you glue it onto something you can grab the glitter that doesn't stick and if you do not like were it is you can take it off. I don’t like the idea of single use plastic in the world it makes me feel a bit not good thinking about it. Single use plastic is make the ozone layer thinner and make things heat up more and more every year making water and the air get hotter. We can stop the ocean and air to not get hotter by not as much plastic use gas walk more to school and work and electrics turn of lights and stop watching so much tv. ~Torrun |
We can stop using so it plastics wouldn’t go in the water and the plastics will kill the fish we are killing are own food we need to stop!.
~Kaltee Single use plastics are things like juice box straws, plastic tarps, candy bags, ziplock bags, fishy cracker bags, wrappers from packaged snacks, processed food wrappers, containers and toy packaging. Single use plastics are destroying our earth. I feel bad about that because it sucks. We are killing our planet. We can start eating fresh food instead of it being in processed bags. We can still eat candy but we can use compostable bags or jars. We can make packaging out of paper instead.
~Hayden This is how I feel about single use plastics:I don't like them much. I think WE NEED TO STOP BEING STUPID by using things only once and throwing it away AND BE CREATIVE. What I know: plastic is being dumped into the environment and it’s making animals sick. ~Bodhi
I do not like single-use plastics because they pollute the earth and people that don't care about the plastics don't realize they are affecting our earth and I hope that everyone will realize very soon so there not so much plastic being used every day.The way we can do something about it is making big movements to change and make it so the giant garbage patch can be added to very less frequently.
~Lindsey I feel terrible because animals are dying colored plastic in the ocean and on land.

I think that single-use plastic is pretty bad for the earth. I also think that it people should be thinking twice maybe even three times because I bet you the first piece of plastic that you used is still on the earth today. Also when people littler before they do the should be thinking about the earth and about what is going to happen, they should be thinking about watersheds that happen when it rains, they should be thinking about the animals and how they might eat the plastic because it might look like food, all these thing are stuff to take into consideration. The list of things I know about single-use plastic is not that big but I know that plastic in general does not decompose. Single-use plastic in this world is destroying the world because little fish are eating the plastic the bigger fish are eating that fish that has plastic inside their body, then we go and hunt that fish and then eat it and for all we know we are eating little micro bits of plastic. How we can help is we can stop making so much plastic and other things that I do not have time to right
~Talise Single use plastics are not good for the air. When plastic is burned, it’s bad for people and animals. It makes the air not good. It gets harder to breathe. I feel bad that single use plastics exist. Things like garbage bags, plastic utensils and straws. We have 6 big bins of plastic grocery bags at my house. We reuse them over and over so they don’t go in the trash.
~Maclean People all over the world are throwing everything in the garbage what happens to the earth. earth is getting destroyed fast some day the earth will be covered in trash. What we could do about this well everyone on earth could do is when they are in the ocean if they find plastic they can take it out of the water and take it back on land and recycle the plastic they find.

There are several protected areas in the Squamish area. We have spent some time exploring some of these areas in order to better understand what is making these areas vulnerable and what we can do to help preserve them.

"What are some things you notice when you look at this data?" "Why do you think that the amount of forest fires in BC are increasing?" |
Big Idea: Earth and its climate have changed over geological time.
Learning Intention: There is evidence that change in climate affects the earth:
Curricular Competencies: Think Critically: The students will choose a wildfire cause in order to make observations aimed at identifying their own questions about wildfires in our area. Collaborate The students will work in groups of their own choosing to co-operatively design their own project. |
